Every business is a digital business. But the most successful businesses seamlessly couple information and technology with their continuously evolving business processes. This isn’t easy – in most organizations, processes are uncharted, information is unreliable, and technology has created stovepipes rather than integrated platforms for business execution.

Two roles are critical to break down the barriers between process, information, and technology: Enterprise Architects, to connect business goals to information, application and technology strategy, and Business Process professionals, to find the opportunities to streamline and improve their operations. These two roles can be synergistic when they work together – creating intelligent, globally consistent processes, enabling fast change to seize new opportunities. But they can also be destructive when uncoordinated.

Forrester’s Enterprise Architecture Forum 2011, through keynotes and four tracks of sessions, will provide an integrated understanding of business, information, and technology architecture – and the benefits possible when these domains are harnessed together. Attendees will explore four key areas:

Key Issues That EA Forum Will Answer

  • Connecting business process, and architecture. Business architects in EA and in business areas, and business process professionals must work together to improve and transform their businesses – but today they often work at cross-purposes. This ‘how to’ oriented track will feature sessions on linking business process and business architecture efforts. We’ll cover the methodologies these roles use to develop integrated programs for business and IT change.
  • Creating business-driven technology strategies.IT’s value comes from how it enables business models through technology. This track will cut through the theory to show how to create information, application and technology architecture & strategies which resonate with business leaders and position IT for greater value.
  • Key technology trends EAs should watch. Our top analysts will discuss the latest trends in the technologies – from Cloud-based services to pervasive BI to new collaboration capabilities – that will impact your organization in positive (or detrimental) ways, tell you what the impact could be, and how to prepare.
  • Learning best practices from the EA Award winners. Forrester, in conjunction with InfoWorld Magazine, has identified five leading EA organizations through our EA Awards program. This track will feature case studies from the EA Award winners, highlighting their journey and best practices that all EA organizations should adopt.
