In Forrester's 58-criteria evaluation of 12 European WAN service providers, the Leaders were AT&T, BT Global Services, Colt, Orange Business Services, and Verizon Business. Verizon Business led with the best overall combination of current offering, strategy, and market presence. We ranked Easynet, Global Crossing, Interoute, KPN, Reliance Globalcom, Telefónica, and T-Systems as Strong Performers. Colt and Interoute offered the best prices, while Telefónica and Verizon Business had the least competitive pricing. Since our last evaluation, AT&T and BT Global Services have made the most progress, and Telefónica has become a significant player in the European multinational company (MNC) WAN market. In particular, BT's service-level agreements and customer satisfaction have improved significantly, and AT&T is now a strong challenger for MNCs headquartered in Europe, not just the US. All the Strong Performers can offer European MNCs excellent alternative choices to the Leaders for managed European WAN services: T-Systems is a leader in converged IT and telecom deals; KPN is a good choice for firms based in Benelux; Easynet, Global Crossing, and Interoute offer cost-effective solutions best suited to midsize multinational firms.
